Welcome to the FLuMPS
Friends of Long Melford Primary School or FLuMPS as we are known was established in May 2013 by a group of parents.
The Friends of Long Melford Primary School are a team of parents who organise special events,
such as discos, hang outs, quizzes and Christmas and summer fetes. Not only do they raise funds for the school, but arrange social events are also an essential part of the school community.
The FLuMPS Committee are:
CHAIR - Pip Cook
VICE CHAIR - Emma Upton
SECRETARY - Becky Gridley
TREASURER - Katie Green
They are supported by a number of willing parents.
We encourage all parents to get actively involved! You do not have to attend every meeting – just be able to help at or before the events that take place.
Since September 2016 FLuMPS have organised:
Quiz evening with Holy Trinity Church
MacMillan Coffee Morning
School 'Hang Out
Lantern Making Workshop
School Christmas Fayre at the Long Melford Olde Christmas
They have also supported the school during:
Children in Need Day
Since September FLuMPS have provided the school with:
•new seating for a Quiet Area,
•redecorated play houses and benches,
•a raised bed with sleepers donated by Ridgeons and plants donated by FLuMPS,
•the use of Mathletics for every child in Year 1 and above,
•the use of Accelerated Reader for every child in Year 1 and above,
a tube of sweets for every child at Christmas.
In the past FLuMPS did a lot of fund raising for the upkeep of the swimming pool. Unfortunately, the swimming pool can no longer be opened due to the costs of repair and maintaining being way beyond our capacity to fund; however we are looking at ways of reclaiming the swimming pool as a useable area for the school once more, eg filling in the pool to create a patio area. We would be grateful for any suggestions or offers of help on this project.
By supporting FLuMPS you will be a part of enriching your child’s school experience and enabling better opportunities for your child and their peers. Creating a school community where parents, carers, teachers and friends of Long Melford Primary School are what make our school a great place to be and a school to be proud of.
