Long Melford Church of England Primary School

School and Nursery Admissions

Long Melford CE Primary School and Nursery does not have a specific catchment area and we welcome children from all surrounding areas.

We are always pleased to meet new parents and children and recommend arranging a tour of the school prior to making an application.  Please telephone the school office (01787 379929) in order to arrange a tour of the school with the Headteacher.  This will give you the chance

to experience the school’s atmosphere and ethos and to see the school in action!

We operate a Nursery every day between 8:45am and 3.15pm.  Children are eligible to join the nursery in the term after they turn three and can attend any number of sessions.  The Nursery works with the Local Authority with regards both 15 hour and 30 hour funding.  If you would like information about Nursery funding, please speak to Mrs King, our Bursar.

If parents wish to make an application for the Nursery, forms can be obtained from the school office.  There are forms for the Local Authority and for the school.  Both forms should be returned to the school office.

Children start Reception in September of the academic year in which they have their 5th birthday.  Applications must be made by the closing date in January ready for the following September.  Parents must apply for a place in Reception even if your child is in the Nursery.  We recommend applying online at: www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissions, using the ‘CAF 1’ form.  The Local Authority process Reception applications.  To access this form please click on the link in the red box.

The Local Authority Admissions Team can be contacted on 0345 600 0981 if you should need further advice.

Information can also be found in the ‘Admissions to Schools in Suffolk’ booklet, which is available by clicking on the link in the red box.

In-year applications for other year groups should be made on ‘Form ADM1’, which is available by clicking on the link in the red box opposite or from the school office.

This form should be returned to our school office as we process our own in-year applications.
